Not sightseeing, but taking part. Rather than ticking off the landmarks in the guidebook, we would like you to walk Japan at eye level with the people who live here. Our job is to get the real Japan across to the people who come to see it.

Not somewhere you visited, but
somewhere close to a second home.

We give visitors to Japan experiences they could not have anywhere else. The culture, the food, the people. We believe the real Japan lives in the everyday things that never make it into a guidebook.

The people who show you around live in the neighbourhood. There is no script to follow: we go to the places we actually eat at, share the food we genuinely like, and tell you the things only locals know.

Our hope is that Japan stays with everyone who walks with us.

What we do may change; what we come back to when a decision is hard does not. These are the terms on which we take work on — and turn it down.

Show the Japan that is actually here: There is a gap between the Japan people picture and the Japan we live in. Closing that gap, so our guests leave with the real thing, is the work.
Guided by people who live there: Less a guide than a friend who lives here, taking you along the streets we walk anyway.
More than a list of landmarks: Not a photo and on to the next one. We would rather you left knowing why the place is there at all.
