Case studies
Four businesses we have worked with on inbound marketing. For each one we give the same four points: the period, the problem, what we did and the result.
CASE 01
Kimono rental shop: OTAs, website and Google Maps
- Period
- Since March 2025 (ongoing)
- The problem
- They did not know how to set up their OTA pages. The dashboards were in English, and the staff were struggling with the settings.
- What we did
- Building their products on Viator and GetYourGuide
- Building their website
- Putting their Google Maps listing in order
- Setting up a routine for staff to ask every guest for a review after the experience
- Running Google Maps ads
- Suggesting changes to the premises, such as the sign outside
- The result
- Sales doubled compared with the previous year. Over the past year, reviews grew from 50 to 200, and the listing is shown more often to people looking for kimono rental in English. Walk-in guests have increased since we started Google Maps ads at about JPY 1,500 a day. We worked on the OTA listings, Google Maps and ads at the same time, so we see it as the result of all of them together.
CASE 02
Coffee shop in Tokyo: local search and social media
- Period
- Since April 2026 (ongoing)
- The problem
- They had no time to look after Google Maps. No review had ever been answered, and several hundred had built up over a year.
- What we did
- Putting their Google Maps listing in order
- Replies to reviews in other languages
- Directing their Instagram from the shoot through editing to posting
- The result
- Some of their Instagram reels have reached 100,000 and 10,000 views. Their follower count has not grown much.
- Period
- From August 2025
- The problem
- Their Google Ads were running on a budget of over 100,000 yen a month with no keywords or tags set up, and were not bringing in sales.
- What we did
- Setting up all the keywords and tags in Google Ads again
- Pausing the ads to see whether bookings changed
- The result
- Bookings did not change while the ads were paused, so the ads were switched off.
- Period
- December 2025 to January 2026 (a one-off production)
- The problem
- Explaining what happens in their tea ceremony experience to guests who speak Japanese, English or Chinese.
- What we did
- A film explaining the tea ceremony experience, in Japanese, English and Chinese
- The result
- The finished film, in three languages, now plays in the shop to explain the tea ceremony experience.
